The Central Florida Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) needs new members. In the past year, the Chapter has increased its role in local activities which support issues of concern to the military community.

Over this period, the Central Florida Chapter has:

  • Awarded three $3,000 college scholarships to local JROTC high school graduates
  • Awarded a college scholarship grant to a high school senior of a retired military member
  • Constructed a wheelchair access ramp for a local disabled veteran
  • Assisted the 143rd Sustainment Command with a care package mailing to deployed soldiers
  • Received recognition from national MOAA organization for 50th years as a local Chapter
  • Sponsored leadership awards to the UCF ROTC Program
  • Had members volunteer thousands of hours to the local Veteran’s hospital
  • Had members serve on local retired military committees advising local politicians

The Chapter wants and needs to do more as a representative of military interests in the local community.  Our voice is only as strong as the membership that supports it.  We need your involvement to strengthen this voice.

In the upcoming year, the Chapter plans to:

  • Provide assistance to the Family Support Groups of local units with soldiers deployed
  • Construct a wheelchair access ramp for a local disabled veteran
  • Award further grants and scholarships to local graduating high school students
  • Continue to sponsor leadership development in local ROTC and JROTC programs
  • Continue to advance the interests of the military community is as many ways as possible

I encourage you to get involved and bring us your energy and ideas.  Please join the Central Florida Chapter of MOAA by completing the enclosed Membership Application and returning it in the pre-paid return envelope.  There is no cost in 2010 for joining the local Chapter.

Sincerely,

LTC Sylvester Johnson, USA, Retired

Chapter President
